Adaptive cruise control

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2017 ford edge vignale, when driving the other day I tried to engage the adaptive cruise control,  but it was displaying not available,  strange this is the first time seeing  this message, but ever since it's always the same, so I decided  to try normal cruise control,  the result were the same, as soon has I tried to engage it the message was displaying adaptive  cruise control not available, funny because I selected normal, and didn't seam to make a difference, so before I contact  ford about it, I was wondering is there anyone that can suggest what the problem  could be.

I have seen something  on YouTube relating  to the brake switch, don't know but maybe, anyway  the car has only done 20.000 miles never been in a accident, and the only thing that's changed is I've had new tyres put on the car, and because the backs went on the front the car doesn't  now know which tyres belong to where, but would this make a difference to the cruise control.

Any help on this would  be much appreciated

Kevin

If you can get a diagnostic reader or better still Forscan on your car, then the fault code that is preventing the system working can be looked up in the attached document (Cruise Control ACC DT.pdf) ...

Also attached is a description of operation. If it's not a problem with the radar module (which would normally be a warning in itself), it is most likely a switch fault or wiring issue. Again, a fault code would pinpoint the issue.

Hi again

All sorts of problems  are going on with this vehicle,  I now have a warning ( check adaptive  headlamps see manual) So I now have 2 things going wrong , no adaptive cruise control  and now this ,could they be linked, anyway going to see if forscan can see anything  today, not sure exactly what I'm doing, but I'll give it a go, can see me getting rid of this car if much more of these things keep happening.

Use FORScan to now clear the DTC's.

Error codes that begin 'Ux xxx' are communication errors and are not normally a fault in themself. You have a communication error with the ABS brake module which is most probably the reason that Cruise Control  doesn't work.

Has the car recently had a flat battery or been jump started ?

Hi

A couple of weeks ago I disconnected  the battery  because  someone  said it would clear the faults but it didn't,

Also how do I go about clearing  the codes

OK have found out how to delete the fault codes, but when done the fault still remains, not sure if I'm doing something  wrong

From the attached ABS Service Manual Diagnostics, U2101:00 in the ABS module is ...

Looks like it needs a firmware update, configuring or a bad ECU!

Thanks simon and unofix

I'm going to check this out

Thanks for replying

Hi @Kevin Holloway
I've seen this issue before on my Mk4 Focus ST and again on my 4.5 ST - I would recommend buying a battery charger and ensuring the battery is charged fully (the car will only ever charge the battery to 80% unless changed with ForScan) Disconnect the battery and charge it full - leaving the car disconnected from power for over 3 hour will ensure all systems power down.

There is a backup battery for the alarm will attempt to kick in when it knows the main 12V is low or dead - so 3 hours tends to drain the backup battery too (driving it for 10 mins recharges the backup battery so don't worry too much about it)

Once fully charged, a BMS reset (you can do this with ForScan too) or by having ignition on > Flashing headlights 5 times > pressing brake pedal 5 times - if its reset the battery icon will flash a few times.

Once the BMS is reset, then clear all the codes using ForScan, ignition off and lock the car - leave it for 10 mins then get back in and start the engine. Take it for a drive and see what systems are available.

Not saying this will fix all the issues, but it's certainly worth a try before getting Ford involved. Message me if you want a call go through it. Also, once the battery is charged - I would recommend ensuring it's running the latest Sync 3 updates. If the battery is low it will fail to install these updates. You can check your updates here https://www.ford.co.uk/support/sync-maps-updates

Hi luke

I think I've messed up with forscan, I now have a message on car (Park brake malfunction service now)  I replaced the car battery as it was over 6 years old and I have the latest software and firmware, and I know I don't need new brakes as they were replaced last year, so the motto  of this is story don't mess if you don't know what your doing with forscan, messed around with it to see if I could eradicate  this original  problem, so instead  of getting rid of 1 problem i now have 2 ,might just  have to take it to ford now to get this sorted.

If you didn't take a backup of the settings before altering then, you can always try restoring the AsBuilt file to the car using ForScan. Use this website to grab the correct file and instructions are listed on how to send this file to the car - Index - FordServiceInfo.Com (motorcraftservice.com)
