MK5 Ford Mondeo Powershift Transmission

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've had a 2013 Mk4 diesel Ford Mondeo station wagon for the last 3.5 years and unfortunately it's just blown it's gearbox (common problem on this model) It's going to cost $6000 AUD to have it replaced with a second hand gearbox. This is more than the car is worth, so I'm thinking it's time for a new vehicle. A shame as it's easily the best car I've ever had.

Does the MK5 Mondeo have the same Powershift transmission (and same issues) as the MK4? I am considering buying one, however I would be reluctant to if it's the same gearbox as the MK4. It's a common problem in Australia for MK4 Mondeos to blow their gearboxes.

Cheers

The diesel Mk5s still retains the Getrag Powershift wet clutch DCT450 same as in The Mk4s

All petrol Mk5s have a normal torque converter type transmission designated Ford "6F mid range" designed and manufactured by Ford usa in a joint venture with GM (General Motors)
