travelpilot fx problems

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have a Ford mondeo 2011 2.0 petrol sport.

It has got the travelpilot fx which I believe is a Blaupunkt?

All of a sudden it won't switch on.  I have checked the fuse, the one under the glove compartment and it's fine.  However, looking at my handbook, it states there is a Sony fuse perhaps in the rear fuse box?  The unit still doesn't come on even with a new fuse under the glove box, is there something I am missing.  I look online, at Youtube, 3 different sources state that it's got a fuse in 3 different places.  At this current time, I'm using a personal MP3 player for in car entertainment but I need to get it sorted, please, anyone have any ideas?

I have the same issues in my Ford Focus, suddenly stopped and hasn’t for about two weeks.

Hoping it’s connected to my battery charging voltage issue, understand the Travelpilot fx is very sensitive to drops in battery voltage

Thanks Mrktn.  I had to get a new battery just last week.  So, I had switched off the radio just to make sure I could get the car started again, every amp counted until i could get to the garage.  Now I have a new battery, it still won't switch on at all, probably kaputt

An update to my problems.

I have had some sort of parasitic drain, either that or the sensor (or whatever it is) in the wheel arch has gotten wet.  Went out to my car, I had to open the door with the key, completely dead.  Although it says don't do it, my only option was to use a Halo Bolt to start the car.  I connected it, the horn began sounding, but it had enough power then for me to lock and unlock the door with the remote.  Then with the Halo Bolt sending power to the car, there was a noise coming from the driver's side front wheel arch.   "uhmmm, Uhmmmm, Uhmmm" repeatedly.  SO, I went and started the car, fired up first time with the halo bolt attached.  Disconnected the Bolt, closed the bonnet, got in the car, stereo is now on!  But, I need a code which I can't find anywhere.  Now the car is firing up properly, everytime, no drainage from the battery.  WTF is going on?
