Engine cutting out

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.  Have a 2018 mondeo st line. When the pressure comes on engine while driving it shuts down. Not all the time. It says on computer when I plugged it in that fuel rail pressure too low and air sensor . I have up loaded pic of faults. I replaced fuel rail sensor but it still doin it. Anyone have same issue

From the codes that you posted it is most likely that it is your Throttle Valve, (Anti Shudder Valve) or whatever you want to call it that is causing the Engine to cut out. The Fuel Pressure code may just be a consequence of the stalling, if it is low then an old Diesel Filter is high up on the list of causes.

The Throttle Valve fault may be caused by a faulty or even very dirty Valve, or a Wiring fault or even a PCM fault.

You really need to monitor Live Data for the Valve and Fuel Pressure when driving to induce the fault if it is safe to do so.

If your equipment can't do this then get set up with FORScan.

That's not relevant to the fault is it ?

The fuel filter may have been replaced during the service I guess?

Yes has been replaced but am gonna have a look at it now and see if there is a problem with it

Fuel filter unlikely to have been changed at a normal service, only oil and oil filter... air filter too if you're lucky.

Might think it's the flow meter on pump but have been told I can't buy that separate.  Only pump and meter

Fuel pressure regulators don't often fail, especially at such a young age.

Personally I'd chuck another air doser on first.  They seem to break regularly.

Unless you have access to live diags and can monitor fuel pressure in real time.
