12v socket in ford KA 2011

Featured Replies

Fault with the 12v socket.. been told by garage it’s fine the socket. I have bought a Bluetooth fm transmitter device to plug in to stream music from my phone. Plus a charger port for my phone to go in. I have found when putting both of them in the device doesn’t go right inside and jumps out therefore the socket to me in faulty.

I have bought a new 12v socket and hoping to fit it myself. Is it easy. Also any advice. Many thanks

Depends what you class as, 'easy'. There are only 2 wires, a +ve and -ve, but they'll need properly soldered in. (Unless they have push on connectors with similar on car). I would guess by the very fact of you asking the question, this is maybe something you've never encountered before. I would advise taking it to a local car electrician, it certainly isn't a big job, and much safer to get done by someone who knows what they're doing...
