2008 cmax clutch issue.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2008 cmax 1600 petrol manual.130,000 miles.

All of a sudden ,2 days ago,  the clutch started slipping, I thought maybe a spring has broken on the plate , rather than wear on the plate surface.

Now intermittently (every 5/10 miles) after putting it in 2nd gear, the clutch slips as if it's worn (in all gears) , after another 5/10 miles it stops slipping and is fine again . Could it be the release bearing sticking ? I'm thinking of taking the gearbox off to check, unless it has an inspection plate or a hole where I can check.

Any suggestions would be great.

Brake fluid level is on max , and the pedal feels fine.

Then that would be an excellent time to put a new clutch in 👍

That's what I was thinking, if taking the box off, might as well replace the clutch , is  130k fair for wear ?

The clutch has done well at 130k time for a new one 😊
