Good morning, I’m in process of buying a 2.0tdci Mondeo estate, do these have a wet belt or chain?

I have tried googling this and some say it has a timing belt and a small chain, others say it’s a wet belt - so bit stumped at present

My guess, it could be a dry belt unless it is an ecoblue using adblue.

No its ECOnetic - I phoned Ford and gave them the reg, they say Mondeos weren’t fitted with wet belts?!

but having looked through this site there’s a how to for 2.0/2.2 wet belt 

waiting on salesperson to phone so I can pick his brains

There are several versions of the 2.0 TDCI with different belt/chain setups throughout the years.

Think they went welt belt from dry belt with the intro of ecoblue. Chain driven cams were in the previous Puma diesel engines prior to 2007. 

Yes, the old Ford engines were chain in Mk3.  PSA DW engines are dry belt in Mk4.  Then EcoBlue is wetbelt but I'm not sure which year the changeover was for those, possibly Mk5 facelift?
