Issues with My 2019 Ford Focus Active X Auto 1.0L EcoBoost 125 - Seeking Advice

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out for some insights regarding my 2019 Ford Focus Active X Auto 1.0L EcoBoost 125, which I've recently started experiencing issues with at around 76,000 miles. Here are the problems I've encountered:

  1. Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power Warning: The car sporadically shows warnings for powertrain malfunction or reduced power.

  2. Lighting System Failure: I am facing intermittent failures in the lighting system.

  3. Crash Alert and Camera Malfunctions: There have been random alerts related to the crash alert system and camera issues.

I've dropped the vehicle off at Arnold Clark this morning under their 60-day warranty. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this with the dealership.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best,
Tufail

Hi,

That's a lot of faults!  Unfortunately, they're almost impossible to diagnose with the vague descriptions from the FordPass app.

Powertrain malfunction could be anything relating to the engine.  Lighting malfunction could be anything relating the lights.

Hopefully these faults are just caused by the car having sat in a compound for a while before you bought it.  I suspect Arnold Clark will either charge or replace the car battery as a starting point.  They will then need to read the specific fault codes before being able to diagnose each fault.

My guess would be that the State Of Charge of the car battery is very low, probably 40% or less. Needs either a full 24 hour charge or a new battery.
