Battery fault now replaced. Radio dead OBD has no voltage

Featured Replies

Car runs but Coil light flashing, difficult to start turbo will not kick in, much smoke out the back unburnt fuel no doubt, when warmed up runs ok but still smokey. main problem is need to get OBD working had a mobile mechanic out and there was no voltage on the OBD pin he checked fuses all looked good. My son had tried to Jump start when old battery was flat and might have connected it wrong and blown some units any help would be nice please.

Sounds like it's in limp mode then. What's the car, what's the engine, what's the year. When did it happen, driven in flood water, more info the better. Have you got a code reader of your own. Forscan,?

That's a serious problem, there is a chance that quite a number of modules (including the radio) may be damaged..

Check Fuse 69 and 72 in the passenger compartment fuesbox

Sounds like you need the help of a professional Auto-Electrician, to do some proper diagnosis.

So, it's a mk3 Mondeo TDCi. How I understand it then, is that the trouble started when you had a flat battery, and your son tried to jump start you by connecting his battery to yours. Is that right?.

Have you used the OBD port before OK? - am wondering if the dead port is a red herring and it's never worked.

Before you had this dead battery, did the engine run fine and smoke-free and in frequent use?

The smoke and unburnt fuel smell does sound like an injector overfuelling.

Are you knowledgeable enough to try stuff for yourself?

If 'yes', then one at a time, disconnect the electrical connectors to each injector in turn, and rev the engine and observe for LESS smoke and smell. (obviously engine will run less smoothly) if you're lucky, you'll locate the faulty injector that way.

Don't forget Unofix's advice: Check Fuse 69 and 72 in the passenger compartment fuesbox

(these are for the radio and OBD btw)
