Vibrations | Bad fuel economy and Rough Idle

Featured Replies

I have a 2013 Powershift Ford Kuga 2.0 Ltr Diesel.

I'm experiencing lots of shaking at traffic lights and idle, this goes when I start driving. However vibration can be felt in the pedals, and drivers footwell. The car is not as quick as before and if i need to get away quickly at a roundabout, there's a delay. When the revs are already high and I put my foot down I do get instant power.

In addition to this, I'm only getting 32MPG when cruising at motorway speeds. I'm confident the issue lies with the air/fuel mixture being off but not sure where. Forescan was showing 'WOT' around 83% when at Idle which i found unusual. I've had the car serviced and recently changed the fuel filter but no change.

BUT here's the strange thing. Sometimes i'll drive my car for days at a time and it's still there, however this morning when returning home from the gym I cruised at 55MPH (Issue still there) and was getting 32MPG. I reset the average MPG and had to overtake a car, when returning to the left lane I noticed the acceleration felt more responsive and smooth and the vibrations had decreased significantly (I still get some as my wheels need balancing), I didn't think much of it until I came off the bypass and noticed the vibrations, which occurred even at 20mph had all but completely gone. I checked and I was now getting 47MPG and sure enough when I stopped at traffic lights, the idle vibrations had died down quite a bit as well.

I use my car everyday to travel at around 6am to the gym which is approx 15 minutes away 10 of which i'd say is dual carriageway speed. However I also use it for lots of short trips and rarely go on long long runs.

Here's what I havent checked:

- MAP Sensor (still need to clean this)

- EGR Valve (too difficult for me to remove)

- Throttle body (I got this almost out but the sensor was impossible to disconnect, butterfly valve was open when the car was off, not sure if this is right)

- Battery

I have:

- Fully serviced the car (including pollen filter)

- changed fuel filter

- cleaned MAP sensor

- Use premium diesel and fuel additives to cleanout everything.

I'm finding it hard to balance taking the car on a long run and wasting fuel as it's currently so inefficient, but i am worried about the DPF. I do dual carriageway driving at the weekend but this is rarely long 10 mins max.

Should I do a static forced regen using forecscan ? When this issue was initally there i took it for a really long run but it didnt help, it only randmonly dissapears sometimes.

any help is greatly appriciated

thanks

Josh

OK so now we have established the photo is a fake (I hope the real owner has given you permission to use it), what Ford model do you drive as you say 2000 in the profile ?
