MK 4 flickering lights issue

Featured Replies

Hi all.  Been putting up with this nonsense for a while now.  When the ignition is on the interior lights constantly dim bright, dim bright, the same applies to the headlights / sidelights although headlight brightness can fluctuate with the cars revs.

The other one -

Ignition off but sidelights on, intermittently on/off as they please - only for a split second each time however when this is happening I can hear an audible click from under the bonnet...

I was thinking that it must be the voltage regulator or the smart charge on the alternator but now I'm not so sure and don't want to get it changed for the issue to persist!

When researching this it seems a common issue and there's mention of a revised single wire for the alternator ??

Any ideas ??

Thanks
