Ford street Ka chassis issues

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, my first post here and I have a ford street Ka 2003. It's just gone to the mechanic as it's just been sat for about two or three years now it runs ok and has some issues but the main problem is the chassis. The mechanic said that he welded the engine subframe as it was structurally insecure and he says it has two ish years left on it before it becomes too dangerous, so I started considering my options and i am thinking of a sandblast and re protecting against rust but not sure if this is a great option or not and how much this would cost. Is it worth this big of a project and if so how much would a rust treatment cost? I am an experienced mechanic and have been the one that got it running and brought it back to life so I will understand most technical terms. I just don't know much about fords and especially not this model.

If it's only got two years left, the rust is already too far to be saved by a sandblast and paint.  Any crispy bits would need to be cut out and plated before applying paint on top.
