Irregular voltage boost control solenoid valve

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, first time posting but this forum has been an invaluable resource thus far.

I have a Ford Kuga MK1 2008 model.

Was getting the following codes and limp mode:

P0238

P2263

Had the turbo rebuilt, full service, DPF clean, replaced the MAP sensor.

Noticeably better performance but still getting the codes, doesn't really go into limp mode but does feel like the turbo isn't working at all, no power.

Still getting the P0238 and P2263 codes.

Just replaced both boost control solenoid valves, one that controls the vacuum for the EGR and the other controls the vacuum for the VGT. Checked the vacuum lines for leaks and while checking the harness I noticed the vacuum on the EGR side solenoid was constant, but the vacuum on the VGT side was pulsing... Checked the voltages on the 2 pins of the harness for the EGR side and had a reference voltage of 12v and a constant 4ish volts for the controll pin. When I checked the harness connector of the VGT solenoid it had the 12v reference but the control pin was jumping from 0 to 4 and dropping strait back to 0, the sequence was 0,2,3,4,0. Like it had no idea what it was doing.

This looked just like the vacuum pulses coming out of the solenoid.

While checking everything, the turbo actuator was pulsing too so movement is not restricted.

Sorry for the long description but basically I'm looking for where to start on how to diagnose the fluctuations in voltage from the harness for the VGT solenoid. Do I need to look directly at the PCM?

How do I know where that voltage is generated from?

Thanks for any advise and happy new year to all!!

Cheers.

So turns out if I disconnect the MAP sensor, the voltages return to normal and the turbo actuator stops pulsing constantly.

Can anyone confirm the MAP controls voltage to the boost control solenoid valve that produces vacuum for the turbo actuator on this car ?

Does anyone have any normal readings I can base anything on?

Attaching some screens of the MAP, that actually looks like it's working?
