What is 'RB1 – Rear 15E relay' in Mondeo Mk4

Featured Replies

Tailgate on 2011 Mondeo Mk4 (UK) will not open using switch, only with remote key. A couple of garages cannot fix it. Tailgate switch works. I saw one guy say his was fixed by replacing a relay. On diagrams I cannot see tailgate specified but there is one relay called 'RB1 – Rear 15E relay'. Does anyone know what this is for or which relay  (if any) operates the tailgate?

There is a relay inside of the Body Control Module for the tailgate release. It is classed as non-serviceable by Ford. If you remove the BCM and open it up, you can desolder the relay from the circuit board and replace it.
