Hi guys

bought a 2014 kuga titanium x it’s a repossession and got keys sorted and starts and runs fantastic 

 

my issue is it’s giving p2849 and p284b codes and will not move I’d drive or reverse

can anyone give me some help I’m not a mechanic but have restored cortina’s, capris xr4i’s this is my first venture into more modern cars I have a forscan and that’s how I got the codes

Technology has moved on a bit since the days of the model 'T' which had a lot in common with the cars like cortina's and capri's. What you have now shares the type of technology with an Airbus 380 !!!

You may well have damaged wires to the TCM. or the TCM may require reprogramming. I'd start by removing the two plugs from the TCM and very carefully inspect the wires. Remove the plastic backshell and look inside the connectors for broken wires.

 

What is a tcm what does it look like

TCM = Transmission Control Module, or sometimes called Traction Control Module.

It is mounted on the side of the gearbox and usually has two large multi-way connectors
