Powertrain malfunction

Good evening all,

I am a new joiner, so appreciate that I have leaped in with a request for help - I was a member a decade or so ago of the FFOC.

I have also posted this on the FocusSTOC.

Background:

I have a from new Focus Mark 4.5 ST (8000 miles) Track Pack. Oil currently 39%. No mods.

Events:

Yesterday I started the car and an alert indicated collision detection failure- the car when driven was ‘juddery’ with no boost or bar pressure. All was well last night on commute home.

Noted also the spanner icon.

Sports mode not able to be used.

I stopped twice to a) see if it was a detection sensor issue - this continued b) the juddering and loss of power would return - it didn’t.

Drove approximately 12 miles and no boost power, revs were flickering and no sport mode, strange steering feeling etc. (I suspect limp mode)

Stopped in a service station and turned off for 5 minutes.

On starting again - no warning lights, boost back (albeit oil pressure seemed to go up to higher level - I may be wrong) and sports mode accessible.

Previously noted twice (one at circa 1000 miles) that sport mode not available and also once whilst driving it rebooted but then became available. No problems in between these two prior episodes.

The FordPass app had two alerts - the first - forward collision warning not available and second Powertrain malfunction.

I have booked it into Ford for Thursday but would value any assistance in what to ask or what the issue could be.

many thanks.
James

Update: This morning started fine - no alerts - oil pressure seemed to go higher and I have convinced myself it sounds tinny (maybe my oversensitivity) turbo boost and sport mode worked - I didn't take it out as as mentioned it's booked in this week and although it seems normal I don't want to make any issues worse.

Searching this site this poster seemed to have a similar issue - collision detector failure then powertrain malfunction

Hi.
thank you.

Hi James and welcome to the forum. You stated the oil was at 39%. What do you mean by that?

I hope that the dealer will sort the issues you're having. Keep is upto date please.

As indicated by the Ford Pass App.

Evening,

Apologies - it was on the app - stated 39%.

My car has been in Ford's - Spoke to the master tech - was very helpful.

Has had 4 fault codes noted - 3 battery and one a ?turbo sensor.

He has been in contact with Ford and my battery was < 70% charged and they have asked him to charge it as they think that may be the issue - so still with them overnight.

He has also logged it with Ford as it may be a software glitch.

I will clarify the ? turbo code.

He doesn't think its a mechanical fault which I hope will dispel my slight concern going forward, as I want to maintain confidence in the car.

I have also had the oil and filters changed.

Picked up yesterday.

4 fault codes.
P0562 (twice) system voltage low

P06E4 control module wake up circuit performance

P061B internal control module torque calculation performance

Three involve the battery and the last seems regarding the powertrain

Hopefully that will be the end of the issue now the battery is charged

Let's hope so.
