Mondeo locked down

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here...Hello all!

Trying to assist my pensioner neighbour who's 2011 Mondeo 2.0 TDci has gone into lockdown.

He had the 4 starts left warning and ignored them and used up the 4 starts. Car then had key not detected and steering malfunction errors on screen. Had to be recovered on flatbed to his home

I found his bcm fried and lots of water damage so got a replacement and cloned aswell as a new washer pump.

After installing the replacement bcm I still had the same errors, changed the battery to a known good one and key not detected went away but steering malfunction remains

I did repair the plugs for the bcm too.

I have a laptop with suitable cable and Forscan but can't communicate with the OBD as can't get ignition on

I say on YouTube a guy bridge R2 to power up the ECU but didn't work for me

All suggestions and ideas greatly appreciated as he's stuck with the windows stuck down.

Thanks in advance

G.
