Front left door speaker not working (NON UK)

Hello,

I recently bought a streetka 1.6 futura, but the front left speaker in the door isn't working. I have already tried to take off the plastic door cover but was afraid i might break something important. My hypothesis is that the speaker is either completely destroyed by the previous owner or the cabling is broken. There is some sort of green grease in the electrical connector, thats located between the two arms that hold the door. Can someone give some advice on where to start with this?

All help is appreciated, thanks!

    Damaged wiring is my first thought, check continuity to the speaker cables.
