P006A-62 Help!! 😞

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a Ford Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 2016, I had it remapped it worked fine for about 1/2 weeks then the check engine amber light came on, so I've got the remap taken off and the light still comes on! The code reads P006A-62 Mass or volume air flow correlation - compare failure!

I've had multiple mechanicals look at it and carried out tests on, like cleaning sensors and pressure testing the engine and there is no leaks as far as we can see and have changed the MAP and MAF and the light is still coming on!

So I've had 2 auto electricians have a look and one says it's mechanical and the other says it could possibly be my ECU!!

So I've spoken with lots of ECU specialist and they said there not to sure on what it can be basically but one said it could be a software issue but again it's guess work!

The light comes on in less than 5 minutes of the car running sooner in colder weather I think!

I can driver for longer with the light not on if I stay at a constant speed of 50mph+ obviously can't do that everywhere!

Really looking for helping been going on for ages, really getting to the point on getting rid of it!

Would appreciate any help possibly

Thanks

Adam

Do you know if they kept a copy of your original map to flash back on or whether it's another 'new' map that may not be identical to the original?  It does sound like a software issue to me.

I assume you hadn't physically changed any parts of the air intake which could have snagged or damaged MAP wiring in the process?

I had a full air intake fitted for months before the mapping and the probably but there are no signs of damage! And I'm not sure what the map was when the garage put it on, but the map is off now and the issue is still there!

If the ECU has an software problem is that something that can be fixed how do I go about it to get checked!

Thanks Adam

There is still a map on there.  The engine wouldn't run without one.  So basically 'removing' a remap means replacing it with a standard map.  I'm just wondering if they've installed the wrong standard map.  It needs to match your ECU numbers perfectly.

I used to keep a copy of every standard map when I was remapping cars so I could always put the original back on if necessary.  Even seemingly identical cars have several different standard maps as the software gets tweaked throughout production run.

If it's a software fault it will be cured by installing the correct standard map.

Sadly it could be difficult to find the issue in this map, even for an experienced map writer.  It's just a mass of computer code.

Personally, I'd contact a mapper that deals with a lot of 1.0 EcoBoosts to see if they've got a standard map file that matches your ECU number.  Then get that flashed onto your ECU.  Map files can be emailed successfully so doesn't need to be local.

Is this something ECU specialist company might be able to do! Or is this something I would just need to ask around myself?

Thanks

Adam

A Bosch ECU specialist might have access to a huge database of originals maps for all of their standard ECUs.  That's not a bad place to ask first.

It does need to be specifically for the 1.0 EcoBoost though.  So no point contacting diesel remappers for example.
