Upgrading radio in 2012 lx

Featured Replies

Hailing from NZ here, I have a 2012 lx. Love it, wonderful car, however, I want to upgrade the radio to one from a zetec as I would like to be able to Bluetooth media. My aux input is a bit intermittent and getting tired of wires/adapters for modern phones without headphone jacks. Mum has a 2012 zetec with Bluetooth so know what I'm after.

I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gJt3ZUxqy8 where he just bought the radio and Bluetooth module from one and simply did a swap. However upon reading the comments I found this one where he replied saying he also had to go into the car configuration and change something.

I bought the radio and Bluetooth module from a 2013 zetec from my local pick-a-part and did the switch, this didn't change anything, radio worked with all functions as original lx one, but not the Bluetooth media. I borrowed a V-gate vLinker from a mate, plugged it in and had a browse through the cars modules/settings with FORscan but couldn't make heads or tails of what I was looking at. I also couldn't find a tutorial for changing audio configuration.

Anyone know if it's possible to do? and if so how?

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

Edward
