Will Forscan run on a Chromebook laptop?

Featured Replies

Good morning all.

Can anyone tell me if Forscan will run on a Chromebook laptop? My old Windows 7 laptop (upgraded to Windows 10) will soon no longer be supported by Microsoft, as it cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.

I am considering buying a Chromebook to replace it, but, before I make a final decision, would like to know if anyone has run Forscan successfully on one?

Thanks, Alan.

Still have Forscan running on a win XP laptop  I think

It only runs on Windows. Can’t you just keep your old laptop offline for Forscan?

Then use your Chromebook for online stuff.

Also, you do have another 18 months before support for Win 10 is discontinued.

Thanks for that info, seems as if that's what I will have to do. I was just thinking ahead really, my old laptop is 12 years old, so I know it's not going to last for ever.

Chromebook, no.

Why not buy the phone version of FORScan (£7) and use the vLinker dongle? It will do everything that the windows version does except that you can't make programming changes. You can still see and clear DTC's and also reset service indicators.

Dongles:

vLinker FD, for android phone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H82WC8L?th=1

vLinker FD+, for iPhone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H8JHWP2

My phone is also ancient, I don't think it would be capable of running this!

Thanks for your reply, I'll bear this in mind when/if my phone dies!

Using the phone dongle and forscan on a phone, if you can't make programming changes, does that mean I wouldn't be able to reset my adaptive transmission tables?

correct 👍
