Focus rear shocks.

Featured Replies

Just had my car serviced at fords and on my health report advised rear shocks are weeping when I asked how much to be replaced I was quoted £1950. WOW

I was shocked. I asked if this was right and to check again and sure enough the sales guy was shocked himself again when he said it was correct.
My car is 68 plate st line x with adaptive suspension which as 5 modes to choose from.
Can someone explain why so expensive. I’m gob smacked.

Fancy toys come at fancy prices !!

I hope you don't have full adaptive LED headlights, or it could send you to an early grave if you ever need to replace them.

Yip adaptive lights aswell.  Dreading buying the car now.

Yes, as Unofix says, Fancy toys come at fancy prices !!

Any make of veh, not just Ford, that has such toys, in your case, adaptive suspension, will attract same/similar prices

Adaptive suspension on Mk4 Focus's is incredibly rare.  Think this is the first non-ST I've seen with it.  Wasn't even an option when I ordered mine.

DCC shocks on VAG cars don't cost anywhere near that much.

Yeah I didn’t  know it had it until I looked into it.  It’s fully loaded pan roof adaptive headlights the lot. Ex ford managers car.
cost a fortune to fix anything on it.  Might get shut

I ordered the Active Vignale new when pan roof & adaptive lights came standard on those.  Had absolutely no intention of keeping it outside of manufacturers warranty due to part costs.

If you do want to keep it, it might be worth paying for an aftermarket warranty.  Just make sure it'll cover things like lights, pan roof etc.  I suspect leaky shocks won't be covered though.

Good advice that pal. Gonna look into warranty.  Scared to drive the bigger incase anything breaks and costs a fortune. It’s a focus at end of day not a Porsche.  Mad

Slight seepage on shock absorbers is acceptable, but not a full blown leak where the shocker is wet.

I was always taught that any oil seal has to leak just enough to lubricate itself, but it is nearly 60 years since I was at Technical Collage!

So, have a look for yourself, a lot of garages are all too ready to spend your money, especially main dealers!

Geeeez. What was the name of the shop you went to, 'we saw you coming' ?

Seriously tho. My last car was a Lexus is250 and rear shox yes standard were 320 a piece.

The adaptive type on a Lexus RX450H are a little more at around 360.

WTF are Ford thinking of! They're nowhere near in the same league as Lexus yet they're charging More!

Get shut. Get a Lexus.
