Please help...Fuel filler neck

Featured Replies

We had to recently replace our fuel filler neck pipe for our 2012 Mondeo Diesel Estate, I purchased a 2nd hand one from a local Ford breakers, took it to be fitted (all of this today)

We advised the breakers it was Diesel, they have sold us a petrol one and its also been fitted!

We had no clue until we've gone to fill up this evening and of course the Diesel pump nozzle doesn't fit (the petrol one does)

Do we need to now replace the whole filler neck pipe or can just the top plastic part be changed - we need this doing ASAP as my husband needs the car for work purposes and I'm in panic mode, so hoping someone can advise us, please?

Yes.

It's a totally different assembly between petrol and diesel

As an emergency TEMPORARY solution you could use the Ford plastic filler for petrol which will fit your car now and then put the diesel pump nozzle in to that. You will have to fill slowly but at least you could get some diesel in the tank.

I'm going to contact the breakers first thing in the morning, worse case scenario, I will purchase one of these funnels as a temporary measure.

Thank you so much for your help/advice.
