Park Assist Malfunction

Featured Replies

I have started to receive a park assist malfunction on my dashboard (mk3 2012 tit x), I have checked the codes on Forscan and the only one that comes up is under PSCM, U1059 - Lost communication with Park Assist Control Module A.  I reset the code and took a drive, I got the error twice within 1 mile.  The sensors still work as normal and I only get the fault whilst driving.  I have checked the connectors on the PAM and everything looks good.  Has anyone had a similar fault?  Does the fault lie with the PSCM or the PAM?  If it's a wiring issue, where do I start to check for issues?  I can look a sourcing another PAM module, which is relatively cheap, I'm hoping the fault doesn't lie with the PSCM as this means a new rack.  I have also checked the battery an alternator, battery is new and charging rate was 14.8v.

So had to go out and the fault kept coming and going, so intermittent, when I got home the fault stayed on, I check the connectors at the PAM again an there was some blue corrosion, suggesting water ingress.  I've cleaned up the connectors but the fault still persists even after clearing the codes.  Not sure what to check next, but as it's intermittent, very annoying when it buzzes whilst driving.  There wasn't too much bluing on the module it's self, but wondering if the module has been damaged, so may need to try another one, but don't really want to spend the money if it's a wiring fault.

When you connect to FORScan does the PAM show up in the list of Modules?. if not then either it is dead or the wiring to it if faulty.

So it would it appear this was my fault kind of.  In November I replaced the rear camera with an after market one and used a fuse tap for power, using F30, which is the parking aid.  It looks like the fuse tap had come loose and was causing the intermittent fault.  I moved the fuse tap to an empty location on the same rail (which I hadn't noticed before) and seems to have fixed the problem.
