Rear View Mirror

Featured Replies

Hi all, just bought a 2011 Fiesta Zetec and the rear view mirror gel(?) seems to be broken down. Can anyone point me in the direction of what it’s called when I’m looking for a replacement? Auto dim ones I find aren’t the same. Does this one have a specific name? Guessing it isn’t fixable! Any help or advice appreciated! Thanks

The proper name is 'electrochromic' mirror.

But most people call them auto-dimming.

That doesn't look like a Ford mirror.  I think it's an aftermarket accessory or perhaps fitted by a windscreen or body shop.

Have a look at the back to see if it says Ford or FoMoCo anywhere.

I think this is the correct mirror for a Mk7 Fiesta.  Though obviously you should be able to get a used one at a more affordable price.

I don’t think it’s aftermarket! How do I tell if this Fiesta is an upgraded model or anything?

You're right, that is an original Ford mirror.  Don't think I've ever seen with the button on the front before.

Good news is that's a manufacturing part number.  So you can search for a replacement using that number.

I've found one from a very quick eBay search that mentions a fixed camera.  Does that make any sense with the features on your car?

There is a camera on the rear number plate but nothing in the car that suggests its use! It did baffle me until I googled the part number and that now makes sense. I’m guessing the power button is to make the image appear in the mirror? Either way it doesn’t work! Will have to check fuses etc.

Leaving this here just in case anyone else comes across a Fiesta with a rear view camera

UPDATE: So I took the casing off the windscreen and found a connector unplugged…. Seems it’s been an issue for the previous owner! I plugged it back in and now get this on the mirror… (see pic) it then goes off… so I’m guessing there’s a problem with the camera itself?
