Forscan help required please.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have finally bitten the bullet & purchased a cable (arrives tomorrow), and downloaded Forscan, from the links found on this forum.

A few queries,

First, is there an idiots guide to using Forscan in plain language for someone who is not very computer literate?

Second, How do I go about altering the charging rate to get the battery % higher (currently sitting at 12.3 volts after standing overnight)?

Third, How do I use Forscan to check if the aircon needs a re-gas?

This is the first time I have ever got involved with diagnostic machines, although I have been working on cars, buses & lorries for many years (the Ford retail dealer when I started in the trade were selling new 105E Anglias, Cortina Mk 1, and those horrible Mk 4 Zephyrs & Zodiacs at the time).

Thanks for any help, I'm sure there will be more questions in future.

Hi all, I'm back again.

Well, I finally plucked up the courage to use the lead last night. I followed the instructions, opened FORScan & then plugged the lead into my laptop, and then into the car. the system connected to the car, & seems to have found lots of modules. One fault code came up (EGR cooler valve?) but it said that the fault light was not called for, so I'm not too worried about this at the moment. I didn't go any further last night, as it was getting dark, but I will have another go soon.

I was expecting to have to download drivers to my laptop, as shown in the instructions with the lead, but it seems to not need this.

I have found a FORScan forum, so I will have a look at that later, hopefully there will be answers ther.
