Will my KA drive after instrument cluster replaced?

Featured Replies

Hi

Ford KA 2009 1.2 Petrol Mk2

I'm considering buying a 2nd hand instrument cluster and fitting it myself.

  • Will the car drive after the replacement? So I can then drive it somewhere to be reprogrammed.

The current one has indicator light and rev counter issues as well as broken brittle plastic fixings for the rear assembly screws.

I've already tried opening up the rear PCB to resolder the multi pin connector but broke the rev counter dial when attempting to remove the dial arm. Having had this unit open 3 times now the screw fixings are breaking and the rear is held on with glue and gaffa tape. So it's time to get a replacement.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Chris

With the Mk2 Ka being more Fiat than Ford I'm not sure.  Many Fords won't start unless the cluster is programmed in.

Does it start now with the cluster unplugged?

It's my daughter's car and kept eleswhere. I'll try starting it without the cluster the next time I can, thank you.
