Windscreen Washer Jets

Featured Replies

Random question but how do you adjust the direction of the washer jers?

There seem to be no pin holes I can see to adjust using a pin like you do on most cars.

Advise would be greatly appreciated.

You don't. Your car will be fitted with mist jets I expect.

The drivers side is directing the water just to the very bottom of the screen.

Does this mean this part will need to be replaced

They are very difficult to clean but it can be done. You will have to remove the jet from the car, then use an old toothbrush. You need to use stabbing motions as if you are trying to force the bristles in to the tiny hole. do this while running it under the tap and reverse flush the water through the jet.

A replacement part is about £20 so worth trying to clean it first.

Any idea how these come off?

Every car I've had in the last 40+ years were all a simple push fit from the topside of the bonnet...

In addition to the toothbrush trick, you can also try putting the 'tube' end in your mouth and blowing hard.

Done all that now, still same.

The other one is too powerfully, which I assume is over compensating for the weaker one.

Will just buy a new one.

Just to try and find it now online

Heated jet - 1941350

Non-heated jet - 5309578

These are probably cheapest to buy direct from your local Ford dealer.

Crikey!! For a small bit of pre molded plastic?? I would certainly persevere with trying to clean it. There are no moving parts in it to wear out, and the only fault it should incur is some ingrained grit/dirt. Take it to a local garage or KwikFit or the like, and see if they'll give it a blast of compressed air for you to help dislodge whatever is ailing it.

Times have moved on lol, it's got a built it heater with wiring, plus a long tube.  Not just a simple jet on these.  Though I agree £50 seems excessive.  Will also be low demand as the Edge isn't as common as Fiesta or Focus.

I have same problem, i tried to poke it and feels like this there is a rubber inside but also apparently there is a one way valve inside so i think the valve siezed, i was unsuccesful to clean it,

next time i will try to clean it with my pressure washer hoping not to damage the valve inside

I had some success with a Kuga. I found a spray cleaner bottle that was the has size as the barbed end and pumped tones of cleaner though it.

The jet that worked, you could not blow any air through at all. The broken one you could.

Odd, I know but if it does not spray correctly anymore it is not because it is blocked, it is because something has broken inside.
