Wierd issue mk5 mondeo estate

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have been experiencing an issue with my car (mk5 mondeo estate) occasionally when I am driving around the heater controls switch off and the driver door controls windows seats locks etc all stop working all other window switches work fine. If I switch the car off and leave it for 5 mins they return working for a while but then stop again. Has anyone else had this or know any issue points to look at. I'm thinking it's possibly a CAN bus system shutting down.

Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for my car so I can check the systems.

Thanks Keith.

With the Mk4 Mondeo there is a common problem with water getting to the BCM. Worth checking that your BCM is dry and no signs of damp or corrosion.

You need to get yourself FORScan and a windows laptop.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

vLinker FS, cable for laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP

vLinker FD, for android phone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H82WC8L

vLinker FD+, for iPhone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H8JHWP2

Can also be broken comms wires under the driver's seat causing this issue on these.

Not the actual seat breakout, the main cabin harness

Remove the driver's seat and check for broken/bloated wires on the cabin harness going over the crossmember

Is it possible that the bcm is faulting as I had the car out today and all was OK got out and left it unlocked for about 5mins went to open the tailgate and it wouldnt open. Plugged in a snap on reader and found fault codes all relating to can faults. Deleted them and all worked again. So nothing was moved or moving to cause the issue to occur and I expect all the convenience systems run through the bcm. Hope my thinking makes sense. So is it possible to get a second hand bcm and would it need coded to my car.
