Anyone else, had a recall for front brake hose

Featured Replies

I've just had a recall for front brake hose leaks. Ref id 22B44 on my App for my 69 plate ford edge. Rang ford all booked in.

It would be very unusual for Ford to do a recall just for your car !! 🤣

Very true 🤣 but since I haven't put anything in a post before. I thought I may as well mention it

That's a 2 year old recall but looks like it's recently been reissued with new instructions.

Just looked on the Ford Website and mine shows no recalls but the brake hoses as an CSP?

To quote the Ford Website.

A CSP provides an upgrade to a specific component or perhaps a new module software update. These programs usually have a time limitation which is typically 5 years from CSP launch. Ford Motor Company will conduct repairs specifically designated in a Customer Satisfaction Program at no cost to the owner.

So does that mean that they need attention? And are Ford going to do it as a recall?

Yes, if you contact your local Ford dealer, the CSP should be actioned free of charge.

Technically this is slightly different to a DVSA type safety recall, which is why they've specifically not called it a recall.

Cheer Tom

I shall give it a go

Thanks for the heads up. I received no notification from Ford, but thanks to this post my Edge is now booked in to have this CSP work done next week, free of charge.

Had the recall letter by post today (14th June 2024) ... My EDGE is a 66 Plate.

Copy of the letter showing the details of 22B44 ...

Interesting. I've not received anything at all from Ford. Just this Forum.

Hi All

I received letter start of July.

My Edge booked in for it's next 2 yearly service and having brake pipe work done at same time.

Then onto early mot 2 days later (not due until mid August).

Hopefully will sail straight through as only done 62k miles so far from new.

Still being cautious of clutch issue from the other year, but no more occurences of it.

Happy motoring

Dave

Saw this post and had a look online as I had not received any letter, no recall just the CSP, went into my local ford garage and they said they would look at it and then decide whether they needed changing, took it in on the date for the look see and they said that it had now changed and ford were replacing the hoses anyway. Was told ford had a shortage of hoses and would call me when they came in.

2 days later they called to say they were in, got it all booked in and new hoses replaced.

Finally got round to booking my car in with Ford.
Similar to Ben, no stock at the moment but promised to let me know when they become available.

Had mine done (front 2 flexi hoses) on Tuesday. 2016 Sport 66 Plate. Took the dealer about 2 weeks to source parts.

I Just noticed I had one too when checking my car VIN on FORD website to do an update, went to book it in but I have to add a Service to book it, is this normal?

Hi Habbers

If you continue you should be able to untick the service option.

That’s what I did anyway.

give that a try in a bit, thank you for the tip

When I went in they mentioned that it would be looked at on the next service, as I was 10 months away from the service they decided to carry out the repair anyway to save having to wait.

Anyone else booked their car in with a dealer only to be told that parts are unavailable and still waiting for the call back?

Strange!

My vehicle showed a CSP for brake hoses.
When I tried to book the work in I was told that they were out of stock of the hoses so would let me know when they had them available so the work could be done.
It’s been a while and I hadn’t heard anything so I’ve just tried rebooking only to see that there isn’t a CSP for my vehicle anymore?

It's truly amazing what these OTA updates can do. 🤣

Guess it was a glitch but it reappeared!

Tried again to book in the repair and again received a phone call. Parts have just become available but your chosen garage can’t get you in until January.
My employer has recently moved office location and my chosen Ford garage is now on the way. They could get me into a different one but that would mean going out of my way.
So booked in for January.

Just be careful guys, every time FORD have any (non official) recalls then they 'find' amazingly more work to do, unfortunately they picked on wrong person this time, I have only just had car serviced and MOT'd (without advisory), car went in for brake hose recall then magically needs a new caliper, this happening after they have drained brake fluid so they haven't given me any option to say yes or no!! They are absolute rip off merchants, will not be using Main agents again for ANYTHING!!!!!

Hi Rooster

Thank you for the heads up.

I shall feed back my experience when it happens.

Kind regards Steve

Today was the day for my hoses to be changed.

I was contacted on Friday reminding me about the appointment and requesting I book in. I received a text last night to book in.

Quite a straight forward process.

Arrived at the garage this morning and needed to confirm all I had entered the night before.

I received a few texts in regards to what was happening and a link to a video where the mechanic checked the wheels, tyres and suspension.

All good with no requests for work required.

Another few texts later before confirmation that the car was ready for collection.

Just a couple of bad bits.

I kerbed a wheel on the way to the garage. It was dark and snowing in my defence.

Secondly I asked the garage to take a look at the passenger door that the keyless system doesn't work. I stated I needed a quote for the warranty company to authorise the work.

Nice chap rings me up to say that they would only be too pleased to look at the door and to give me a quote but to do this they want £75.

I would have liked if they quoted without this or including it in the quote as I wanted Ford to do the repair. So declined the offer.

£75 will go towards paying my friendly Mechanic

Regards Steve
