Hi.

My car is 15 years old and for the last 5 years the air conditioning hasn't worked.

We spent £540 on new heat exchanger and testing and it was working for 3 days then the pump was making a noise. I was told it's not worth repairing as debris inside system could cause a new pump to fail.

With summer coming I'm thinking I'll ask here about it.

Any advice?

Take it to a specialist A/C shop, not an ordinary garage. This is their bread & butter, they should be able to give you a proper diagnosis. You'll not get that 'on the internet'! Sadly you may also find that it not being commissioned for 5 years will cause further issues, like seals all dried up. But like I said, we'd all be guessing, you need a man to properly look at it...
