1.0 ecoboost wet belt or chain?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have a 2019 C-max 1.0 ecoboost and I've tried to find out without success, if my engine is wet belt or chain?

Thanks in advance 😁

Put your veh details into here and it will tell you what need to be done on each service including what belts need changing etc

If it has a chain it will still have a wet belt just for the oil pump which is not the problem one

That's the chain engine.

That's interesting. The C-Max never seems to get mentioned in the wet belt vs chain saga - I think that's the first pic I've seen of a revised Ecoboost in one.

Must admit I didn't take any notice of the model.  Seems a bit redundant to have both C-Max & Focus Active on sale at the same time.  I assume the C-Max didn't last long beyond 2019.   But interestingly it must have got the new engine in an 'old' body shell, as I believe the C-Max never got updated to Mk4 Focus style, so must still be Mk3.5 Focus underneath.

It's a bit sad how interesting this actually is!

Oh, I don't know, I find it interesting too, but I probably am a bit sad!😀 Must admit I'd assumed when the C-Max  was phased out that, like the Ecosport, it had kept the wet belt engine to the end.

I guess the next question is going to be when was the revised engjne phased in? Obviously before 2019 as Barrie's got one. Perhaps when the Mk 4 Focus appeared?

Hi,

Could you share what to look for to identify wet belt vs chain

Thanks!

Thanks!

If your engine looks like the one at the top of the page then it is chain.

If it has a big shiny silver lump covering most of the front of the engine then it's wetbelt.

There are so many threads on this if you just have a quick search.

Wet belt type below:
