Strange knocking from the steering rod

Hello guys
I have a very strange and annoying problem with my Mondeo 06 2.0 TDCI 115HP. 
When i drive on bumpy/pave roads around 5-25km/h i hear a knocking sound around from the upper part of the steering wheel. 
The car is on real 115000km and almost everything on suspension is still original. I have changed shock absorber pads on both frond and rear sides. 
I went on inspection for everything else in the group of suspension and my mechanic said everything is ok except this..
