2015 mk5 mondeo diesel clogged with carbon in manifolds and

Featured Replies

Hi guys am at wits end I have just replaced flywheel and clutch the day before it was booked in to garage engine light came on and was hard to start eventually with no power it drove 100yrds and cut out .

Turns out dpf fuel filter manifolds egr valve clogged big time with soot and carbon it's clearly not regen for a while if atall . How do I fix to get it to start there was no fault codes at first when disconnected egr and dpf  came up soot error but that's it

Have you removed these parts or just guessing?

Fuel filter can be replaced easily.

DPF can be backflushed off of the car, or replaced if that's easier.  (ECU won't attempt a regen until the measured soot loading is below the threshold)

EGR & manifold can be cleaned with some petrol or carb cleaner.

If this model uses a vaporiser, probably worth replacing that while the DPF is off.

The dpf is disconnected and the egr have put new fuel filter in and have disconnected the manifold just wasn't sure if I would damage anything with attempting to clean

That doesn't look too horrendous to me. Even in the third photo which is the worst the lumen of the pipe there is still sufficient to allow airflow, the others all look fine.

Agree'd, doesn't look that bad to me either.  Can scrape off the worst of the soot and hoover it out of the pipes.

Just take care not to drop any solid lumps of carbon into the cylinders from the 3rd picture.  Would be safer to remove the EGR & manifold if you do want to clean those out.
