KA Mk1 Clutch Noise

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just purcahse a Street KA for a charity drive next year. The clutch has started to make a noise but goes away when I press the clutch and returns when the pedal passess the bitting point. I.E its there when you start the car now.

I think It maybe a clutch release bearing any thoughts?

Thank You

Correct 👍

Definitely clutch release bearing fit full clutch unit with slave cylinder the last thing you want is putting gearbox back in and boxing it all up to find pressure plate starts to fall

Only thing why would it make a noise when not engaged, the noise is there even in neutral and goes away when you depress the clutch

The engine still rotates when the car is in neutral and hence so does the clutch.

Surely the clutch release bearing isn’t rotating unless you depress the clutch pedal as the bearing is not touching the clutch cover plate spring fingers

The clutch release bearing is not loose on the shaft, it is free to rotate.

Thanks Folks, I'll need to take it off and find out. Deep joy.
