Ford Kuga panoramic roof

Featured Replies

So, later this week I'm picking up a used Kuga, 2019 vintage, with a nice electric panoramic glass roof - despite my prejudices against such things. But it was too good a buy/low risk to pass up.

So, among all you good people out there who've owned such a thing, is there 'owt I need to look out for during my ownership?

And, in the absence of the handbook (which I'll get with the car) does it have a manual means of closing if the electrics fail? A tool to look out for when I collect the car perhaps?

Thanks all - Richard.

My 2019 Focus estate has the full electric panoramic roof or as ford like to call it "Moonroof"

It works very well, I don't very often have it fully retracted, but I use it on tilt quite often and even leave it open when parked on my drive during the hot weather. There is no manual means of closing them, but being made by Ford, there's no chance of them breaking 🤣

One slight annoyance is they do creak and rattle a bit, something that was fixed in later years.

Your 2019 Kuga handbook is available online here:

Thanks for that, Unofix - do you by any chance carry a car cover/half-cover in case it stick open?

I'd be more worried about it shattering when a stone flicks up from a lorry tyre...

I had a pan roof on a Mk4 Focus (not out of choice!) and I really didn't like it.  Made the cabin feel very stuffy even with the tinted glass and the blind rolled all the way closed.  I'm really not a fan of heat though, and my head is very sensitive to sun given its limited ground cover now.

On a reliability note, I don't think I've seen any getting stuck so far.  Lots of creaky ones as Unofix says.  And the odd leak, but really not many.  I've seen more cracked than anything else.

No, I have total faith in Ford's engineering 😉

Actually I've had cars with electric sunroofs since about 1990, and never had a problem with any of them. 👍

So, maybe I should carry a roll of gaffer tape in the car (or is it Duct tape thats waterproof)!
