Well hello Ford guys.

Our 2006 EX Motability 1.6 in blue has been wonderful little car although a little lacking in the steep hill climbing department! Cant fault it particularly tbh.

I'm amazed by its performance on long journeys, relaxing and quite comfy. I love the little mirror for watching the kiddies in the back seat, the huge ground plane, aka the roof for non radio guys, is a tad hard to keep clean 'cos I'm a short *****. Headlights are appalling compared to LED's that burn old men's eyeballs out! Driving position and ergonomics are great too. Only drawback, for me anyway these days, is that its a manual. My wife loves it, Its her shopping trolley from Lidl, secret snacking vehicle, everywhere daily runabout.

Now it has broken, at 134K. The clutch was done 2 years ago and now the gearbox has waved, squealing like a dog, its final wave. But we are brave about it. Scrappies say its only worth £220 which I think is the price of a gearbox unit from a breakers.

We shall see.

Well, you've answered your own question.

Stick a 2nd hand gearbox and new driveshafts on it

Hi Hello all.

Seems a funky place to hang out and chat mechanics etc.

Think I will start a post on moss removal soon, its a task in itself!

Regards.

Here is a video about clearing moss from tarmac drives, I've tried this, and it works!

I should have picked up a couple of packets of that Biological stuff last week in Dublin, and some more Gold Label Powers whiskey at the duty free shoppe....

Me Mam always said "a stiff brush, elbow grease and bleach cleans everything", but I doubt that applies here. Deffo' not using a hoe as a scraper!!!

Ill use soft plastic lolly sticks probably. Gives me an excuse to gorge out on them.

TA!!!

Aldi or Lidl do cheap bio washing powder over here (I use Lidl own make for clearing moss), and a stiff yard brush after it has died off!
