Ford Kuga 2016 2.0Tdi P1102 fault

Featured Replies

Hi we have a 2016 Ford Kuga 2l Tdi Titanium model.  It keeps throwing up a P1102 fault and going into limp mode. It isn’t on all the time it can go a few days before it comes on again and goes off if you switch the ignition off and back on . We have had the air filter changed, the MAFS sensor changed twice - the garage thought the first one could have been faulty but the code keeps coming back.  The garage told us to take it to an auto electrician who has told us he doesn’t believe it’s electrical.  Don’t know what to try next.  Has anyone else had this?

Did the auto-electrician do any testing?

I have seen this fault caused by a clogged EGR valve or EGR cooler.  So when the EGR opens, less gas is passing through it, meaning more fresh air is passing through the MAF.

No I messaged them with all the details and they said they didn’t believe it was electrical.

Ok.  In that case you could ask the garage to remove the EGR pipework to check whether the valve or cooler are heavily restricted with soot.  I wouldn't suggest having either replaced without checking first.

Hi, I had this on my 1.5 diesel ecosport, you need to whip off the EGR including the heat exchanger. When you part it you’ll find it is blocked with carbon. It’ll take a couple of days to clean with a good degreaser but should cure your issue once done. Hope this sorts your issue. Let us know 👍🏻

Did you manage to find the issue with this, mine is doing the exact same thanks
