2016 Mondeo 12v Power outlets

Featured Replies

Hi All.

Since buying my car the 12v outlets (all 3) have never worked.  They dont get any power.  I've seen that each outlet has its own 20amp fuse, but they all look good.  Where should i be looking next?

Thanks.

This can only be caused by one of two possible issues.

  1. The relays in the fusebox have been damaged, they are not user replaceable.
  2. The control signal from the Body Control module is not working.

While two of the sockets share the same relay, and the same control signal from the BCM the socket in the front has it's own relay.

Below is the wiring diagram for the sockets. I would use FORScan and a vLinker cable to check for any Ford specific DTC's. The sockets may have been disabled in the software by a previous owner.

Thanks. This is what Forscan tells me

Code: B1435 - Power Point Relay Set Output

Additional Fault Symptom (:14):

Circuit Short To Ground Or Open

Status (0A):

DTC Present at Time of Request

Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Body Control Module

Disconnect the wiring to the back of each of the sockets. I would suspect that one of them has a fault.

Disconnect the car battery negative lead for 20 minuets before reconnecting it. turn on the ignition and use a multimeter to test the supply wiring to each of the sockets. They should all by live (12V positive). If they are then closely inspect each of the power sockets before reconnecting them.

OK. So I disconnected all the power outlets and the error code still remained.

Upon starting the car I the drivers door switches no longer operate. I have an error code

Code: B1088 - LIN Bus 'B'

Additional Fault Symptom:

- Missing Message

Status:

- DTC Present at Time of Request

- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this

DTC

Module: Drivers Door Module

I've reconnected the power outlets cleared the codes but they both come back including the new one for the drivers door switches.

To be expected. Did you disconnect the car battery ? Did you check the wiring with a multimeter ?

Are you using FORScan to read the DTC's or just a generic code reader ?

Battery was disconnected.

Multimeter used. Reconnected battery after all aux sockets disconnected and no 12v at any of them with engine running.

Using Forscan.

Now no power to drivers window or mirror controls. Windows still work from the fob.

Got window controls back. Fuse 23 was broken. Replaced and all good.

Still can't see a solution to the 12v outlets.
