1998 Escort. Are Rear Hub Nuts Re-Useable?

Hi I have recently done the rear brakes on my 1998 escort and the rear hubs seem to have play in them as if the hub nuts have gone slack somehow!

Are you sure it's the nuts and not the bearings. I read that on my Escort 1995, that you should remove the four rear bolts (on the inside underneath the car) to remove the rear brake drum and never the centre bearing nut as the bearing will quickly fail after this nut has been disturbed. Or if you did remove the drums using these nuts then maybe they need some threadlock on them?
