exhaust cost KA+ 2019

Featured Replies

Re posting this as I initially posted in the wrong forum and admins deleted. Ford dealership just serviced my partner’s 2019 KA+. All ok except they recommended new exhaust and hangers due to corrosion/rust. They said not urgent but to “keep an eye on, and do within the next year”. Wanting your advice on A. Cost (they quoted £1750 P+L which seems absurd) and B. Whether it actually needs doing given age of car (see pics). We’ve only ever kept the car on the drive and haven’t taken it anywhere especially wet! It’s not that I distrust them but the both the quoted cost and age of the car makes me suspicious I’m being taken for a ride. Would value opinions. Sorry for quality of pics I had to screen shot the vid they took.

Tbh there's a fair bit of corrosion there, a custom stainless steel exhaust built and fitted (that will also last a lifetime) would be about half the price Ford have quoted you for OEM. Aftermarket/Custom doesn't need to be loud/obnoxious either.

Looks like it's made of fairly low grade steel.  I certainly wouldn't be paying £2k for another one the same!

I don't think it needs to be done this year, might as well wait until a hangar comes off or it starts blowing.

That's a ridiculous quote. Different car so price will be slightly different but for reference I got my mk2 ka exhaust replaced completely so new muffler and new centre pipe and flexi with a stainless steel system and it cost me around 250-300 parts and labour. I took mine to a garage that only does exhausts but I'm sure other garages will quote similar. I know main dealer is always a rip off but didn't realise its that bad omg

Nothing up with that, looks like the car doesn't get much use.

Keep it on until it fails MOT

cheers, I’m for sure gonna get it done elsewhere (when the time comes). I’m happy to pay a BIT more at a main dealer but I’m not gonna get bent over by them. Thanks for your advice

Yep, worry about it when it fails, you'll get a couple more years out of that
