Fixer upper

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm Dru, fixing up a 2008 1.25 Fiesta for a nephew & trying to show him basic maintenance as my dad did for me.

The car's been stood for at least two years but started on the key🥳

Way too good to scrap but I am starting to rethink my initial appraisal....

Along with all the basic service stuff - pads, fluids, filters aux belt

I've fabbed up & replaced the o/s rear spring top mount, replaced front struts & springs & now I'm hearing a funny noise off the steering rack so I'm heading over to the fiesta club to see if there are any other owners who like me don't like scrapping perfectly good motors but don't have a ton of cash to throw at problems.

Cheers

Is this the last of the Mk6.5 or the first of the Mk7 ?

If it's the older Mk6.5 then it's worth saving 👍

I'm not sure, what are the tell tale signs?

Cheers

You need to find out what it is that you are working on, otherwise you will end up with the wrong parts.

Thanks, really appreciate the help.

This one's def. a Mk6, possibly 6.5 as it has the bump in the headlight lens. I've not been able to establish if 6 & 6.5 light units are interchangeable. If so it's not inconceivable that someone's made a 6 look like a 6.5?

Are there any other obvious differences between the 6 & 6.5?

They stopped making the pre-facelift's in 2005.  A 2008 is almost guaranteed to be a proper facelift.

But to answer the question, the facelift dashboard and cluster are much nicer inside.  PFL had a 'triple' radio in 3 sections and off-centre to accommodate buttons, facelift is just one double din block centred correctly with the buttons above.
