Changing Radio/casette For Cd Player.. Secuirty Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just got my first car yesterday, I got myself a 1999 Ford Ka.

Runs well and is in great condition as far as I can tell (I know nothing about cars so... I could be wrong lol).

Anyway, it has a radio/casette player and although I might like a bit of retro, seriously I dont have many tapes left knocking around lol

So I'm looking at changing it, i've found kits to do that and it seems pretty straight forward, have also found a half decent looking kenwood entry level system for about £65.

My question is, as I have no alarm system, what should I do security wise? The car does not have central locking which appears (again I could be wrong) to be required for lots of alarm systems.

I dont really want to fork out a whole load of money as it's my first car and I just want it to get me through a year or two till my insurance reduces.

Can I get a cheap alarm system fitted? Will the fact that the stereo has a detachable face be enough to deter people popping my window for the stereo?

All help and thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mixxy

hi

you can get a simple alarm system fitted or diy.

i personally would not bother as all you hear is car alarms going off & no bugger takes any notice of them &

if you had one fittedt & car got broken into they

would still be away with stereo if they wanted it m8.

i would just buy the one you have mentioned & fit it & enjoy it.

i find if the gits want it they will get it regardless the security you have inplace

but a fac off front is a good way of starting but dont do as my boy does

& leave it in the back of the front seat take it with you
