12v Battery Drain Issue (PHEV Kuga)

Featured Replies

In Feb this year, I bought a 2021 Kuga PHEV ST-Line X.  Things have been ok up until this week when suddenly the 12v battery started going flat for no apparent reason.  I've had the AA out twice this week for a jump start, and have now bought a NOCO battery pack to do it myself.

I spoke to Ford Customer Care and they advised me that there is a known issue with the 12v battery type in my car and it needs replacing with an AGM. They say the issue has been known about for approx 2 years.

Today the car went back to the dealership and they ran diagnostics which confirmed an issue with the battery.

However they refuse to take responsibility for replacing it.  They say that I've not complained about it before, and that batteries are consumable and subject to wear and tear. They want to charge £300+ for a new AGM.

My arguement is that if I'm spending £22k on a car, it should be provided to me with a battery than will last longer than 6 months - especially since Ford themselves have confirmed that this was a known/documented issue, so one could suggest that the dealership already knew about the potential issue and it was never mentioned to me.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?  How did you get it resolved?
