Tyre size

Featured Replies

Good afternoon

Any tyre experts on here. I've accidently purchased a wider tyre for my Kuga. Instead of 225 they are now 255. Would 30mm width make any difference. Would it be an MOT fail.

Any advice would be kindly received

kind regards

They might rub on full lock, did you go down in tyre sidewall % to compensate? Otherwise the circumference will be bigger and throwing the speedo out.

I'd have thought they are going to be too big for the rims, that's quite a difference.

I'm assuming you bought the tires online, certainly no 'tire' shop would make such an error. You should be able to return them under the 'distance selling regulations', though you may have to pay for a courier to move them back to seller.

Be aware a change in tyre size may be considered a modification by your insurer - if you decide to keep them you will need to let them know!
