No Ford Spares?

Featured Replies

Submitted my Kuga ST Line 4x4A 1st edition  for annual service and MOT on 5.8.24. Ford state they have no spares or can forecast any spares to complete the work. They identified a fault with a AWD sensor and now she sits at the garage unloved and already into 2 weeks without spares being available. Is this the norm?

Probably with an AWD as they're quite rare.

Just keep nausing them every day, ask them what they are doing to source the part, where is the part coming from (probably USA)

Thank you for your response it's getting extremely difficult to speak with anyone at Ford. No-one wants to deal with an unhappy customer.

Just been told it will take a minimum of 7 weeks to get a spare from the USA to the UK. Is that progress? If I could I could fly over pick it up hand it to Ford in the morning I would. Is this company so wrapped up in red tape it can't post it's own spares.

I heard a rumour that Daventry has a problem with asbestos - so parts are coming from Germany or USA ?

Not a rumour unfortunately.

Been informed that there will be mo spares available Aug or Sept maybe October. Ford UK emailed to apologise for the SLIGHT delay. Slight? Hate to think what unacceptable would be. 60+ days without a tow car.

Add a few more months on to Oct.

Is that for all Ford parts or just uncommon ones?

Not told, but I'm guessing all.

Well gone from unbelievable to total incompetence from the 5 Aug 24 to 10 Sep 24 classed as slight delay in getting parts. Today nothing available until mid October and still classed as a slight delay and expect it to slip further. I don't think they have anything on the shelves. How can a demand slip or miss the post 12 weeks. Ford are a joke.

If they can't access the warehouse due to asbestos, there won't be any parts available.  They will be at the mercy of an asbestos removal company so no control over the timescale.  I'm not defending Ford, but this situation seems to be much bigger than the usual incompetence...

On a positive note, they should be able to withstand the heat from customers 🤣

The parts apparently are still in the USA nothing to do with asbestos. Ford demanded, so they say, the parts from the USA as Spain and Germany are exhausted. But every week Ford USA miss the post or the parts didn't get despatched or your orders slipped a week. While the UK staff sip there tea.

Parts for will be shipped in bulk , not just your part in an envelope. Probably container loads at a time either shipped or aircraft.  Before the asbestos issue you could wait 6 months or more for certain parts, even ones you would expect to be on the shelf items. Some dealers have had to borrow parts off donor vehicles.

Can't you find a used sensor on eBay just to keep the car mobile. Also I hope the diagnosis has been correct while your waiting??

I hear Daventry have some spares for older vehicles. 🤣

Plenty on Ebay or scrappy with warranty, but Ford doesn't seem to think outside the box. They content to email the USA once a week. You can buy one from Ford USA and post it tomorrow just like ebay. My biggest fear is that the car sits in the garage car park covered in grime with a flat battery and the diagnostic is wrong. It's a tow car we lost our grandchildrens summer holidays and now losing their promised half term holidays. We also volunteer to tow a support event trailer twice monthly which Aug Sep and Oct are cancelled events.

Has it failed MOT or caused a dangerous fault?  I don't understand why they haven't given you the car back in the meantime.

Ford dealerships have to follow protocols so they can't buy used or aftermarket parts.  However you can take the car back, get a sensor yourself and have an indy garage fit it.

The MOT expired whist at the garage on the 26th day of waiting.

I'm about to SORN it.

Why wouldn't they let you take the car while waiting for the part?

I could understand if it was a dangerous fault but it sounds like you hadn't even noticed it before the service?

There's no point SORNing it in the middle of the month.  At least wait until the last day.

Well its October and another slight delay  8th Oct for an update? 3 months waiting spares. Why can't Ford put the sensor in a Jiffy bag pop a stamp on it and post the part? Ford UK are going to ask that question, meanwhile SORN it and wait by the phone.
