Newbie: Power Steering Noise & Possible Fluid Leak

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 Zetec S 2.0 tdci which has recently developed a whine/groan especially at full lock... I also have a slow fluid leak underneath the car (and the power steering fluid is down slightly - still plenty in though)... Also, i have recently noticed an increasing amount of steam coming from the bonnet after a long journey or a hard drive - this isn't like boiling a kettle kind of steam but enough to just see creeping out from the grill at the front when in the driver's seat.

Could these be related in any way, and has anyone got any advice for me?

Many thanks in advance

Chris

okay so i've just been on the phone to various garages and they reckon it's the power steering pump on its way out... Is this something I need to be immediately concerned about, i.e. will it go bang or will it gradually degrade?

Thanks

Chris
