2 steps forward & 1 back (MK4.5 Windscreen trim issue)

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Yesterday I had my windscreen replaced by 'Auto Windscreens', all seemed to go well i.e. it's Pilkington glass and both sides of the quickclear work nicely. When I came to dry the car this morning, I noticed that the top section of the windscreen outer trim (passenger side) wasn't flush/located where it should be, and pushing it back into place doesn't cause it to 'clip' into place so it remains loose.

I have emailed Auto Windscreens to request that they come back and sort it, but in the meantime I wanted to be a little more prepared, in case they decide to be difficult. To that end, I've spent a few mintues searching both Youtube and this site but can't find any info about exactly how the outer trim clips/locates with whatever is underneath (I assume it's 2 pieces of trim that are supposed to interlock).

Has anyone had this issue or have any experience/pics of how the trim comes off/locates etc? I've also tried to look at replacement parts on ebay but none that I could find had very good images of the backside of the trim i.e. where the clips are.
