Kuga AWD CVT

Featured Replies

I’ve had my current Kuga (ST Line X, AWD 2.0 Ecoblue Diesel Auto) since December 2020 and fancied a change. As I occasionally tow a horse trailer I wanted another AWD and preferred diesel, but that’s no longer an option. I have ordered a brand new facelift ST Line X, with the FHEV 2.5 petrol auto AWD with the CVT gearbox.
Since I’ve ordered I’ve been told to steer clear of a CVT gearbox by all sorts of ‘experts’, none of whom have actually any experience of Fords with such a gearbox. I’ve done lots of research online but can only find good reviews and nothing sending me any alarm bells.
Does anyone here have any real experience and can give any meaningful info, positive or negative ?

Hi Ian, I've no information on how good or bad the CVT gearbox is, but would very much like to hear updates on how you find the Kuga in general with the 2.5 petrol engine. My daughter has a 2010 Kuga 2.0 diesel AWD and sometime in the next few years it will most likely need replacing.

I’ll certainly update this thread.. I don’t suppose we have any members who have the spec of car I’ve ordered as yet as it’s just new, but the CVT in 2WD I believe has existed for a while.  I was hoping for a great nugget of information before I was committed to paying.  Build date is early September, so not long to go now.
