dancressyescortvan
hi there guys, just signed up to this wealth of knowledge after a bit of research. i have a escort van v reg. 1.8d non turbo. the engine is getting pretty tired but the van itself is in good nick, dnt really want to get rid of it, use it for work so its just about to be signwritten etc. thinking of dropping a zetec into the bay. i know a fair few people have done it, so i'm kind of looking for a "how to" guide thats got all the essentials in it. im used to playing with older cars, capris, escorts hillmans etc so basic mechanics is no problem, newer engine managment systems, ecu's etc im not so hot on but with a few phonecalls i can make do. could anyone pint me in the right directions? first up im wondering whats better to change to, a 1.8 or 2.0 zetec? Can i use my current gear box? its the standard reverse one, no flange to life up etc, so i have the IBsomething, right? Wiring looms, which car is it best to pinch one from? does it depend on the engine? im guessing an engine/loom from the same car would be ideal. how much extra wiring is there to be added? Fuel tank has to be changed/modified also correct? any guide on what needs to be done? any advice anyone has will be fantastic, any picturs would be ven more fantastic. thanks in advance everyone!
